Craft Tutorial: Wall Art on the cheap (and SO cute!)--great baby shower or birthday party present!

Craft Tutorial: Wall Art on the cheap (and SO cute!)--great baby shower or birthday party present!

How CUTE is this?! You can do ANYTHING-- the only limitation is your own creativity!

Materials needed:
(ALL of these materials can be found on sale or with a coupon at any major craft store: Michael's, Joann's, AC Moore)

-canvas
-acrylic paint
-craft or scrapbooking paper
-decoupage glue/sealer
-optional: matching ribbon for edges

Directions

-Paint the canvas and allow to dry
-Cut out shapes and/or letters-- you can use stencils, a Cricut (or similar machine), tracings, or just freehand
-Glue/Decoupage the shapes/letters to the painted (and dry!) canvas and glue the ribbon around the edge (optional)
-Once the glue has set, seal the entire canvas and allow to dry.

Here's a closeup of the canvas:

And here's a closeup of the ribbon edge:

This project can be modified for teens, boys, even adults-- what a great and inexpensive way to decorate your kids' rooms, your home, or create personalized gifts for friends!

Happy crafting!

Thanks, Aimee-- for sharing your creativity, your photos and the ideas!

when you say "seal" the canvas, what do you mean? Also, you mentioned the cricut. does anyone know of a machine like that that is compatible with a mac?

Emily:

To "seal" the canvas-- simply brush on the glaze/glue all over the canvas to "seal" down all the edges of the decoupaged paper.

The cricut is actually a stand alone (and relatively) pricey machine-- if you aren't a scrapbooker-- you might be better off using a stencil, buying precut shapes that you can find in the scrapbooking section of any craft store, or even cutting out images from books or magazines.

Hope that helps!
